Vice President Zhang Tiejun from Khalifa University Visits Nanjing Electric to Discuss New Chapter in Power Industry International Cooperation

    Professor Zhang Tiejun, Deputy Dean of the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Khalifa University and Member of the UAE Academy of Sciences, led a delegation to visit and inspect Nanjing Electric on the morning of June 16. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Chairman Hu Dezhao and Vice President Ye Tao from Baiyun Power Group Co., Ltd., Deputy General Manager from Baiyun Power Group and General Manager Shen Qirong from Nanjing Electric Technology Group, along with other senior executives including General Manager Yao Hanqing from Nanjing Electric Power Engineering Company, Deputy General Manager from Technology Group and Party Secretary Deng Junwen, Deputy General Manager from Technology Group and General Manager Chen Xiongqing from High-Voltage Bushing Company, and Deputy General Manager from Technology Group and Executive Deputy General Manager Xia Xudong from Insulator Company. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on deepening international innovation cooperation in the power industry, promoting global resource integration, and advancing the export of China’s high-quality power equipment and technologies.

    In the period of the visit, Shen Qirong offered a detailed overview of Baiyun Power and Nanjing Electric’s development history, core businesses, R&D capabilities, and innovations in smart grids, renewable energy integration, and high-end power transmission and distribution equipment. He emphasized the company’s recent achievements and experiences in international strategic expansion, participation in global megaprojects, and efforts to promote Chinese standards “globally”. From market development, product R&D, and international collaboration models, Shen shared specific initiatives and plans to address global energy transitions and serve power infrastructure construction along the “Belt and Road Initiative”.

    Zhang Tiejun expressed a high praise of Nanjing Electric’s accomplishments in power equipment manufacturing and its forward-looking international vision. He introduced Khalifa University’s strong capabilities in engineering and energy technology research, extensive international partnerships, and the significant demand and market potential in the UAE, Middle East, and North Africa for energy transition, grid upgrades, and smart city development. Zhang noted that Khalifa University, as a top research university in the UAE, leverages its advantages in connecting global leading scientific resources and enterprise networks, expressing eagerness to set up deep collaboration with Chinese power industry leaders like Baiyun Power and Nanjing Electric.

    Zhang Tiejun stated that Nanjing Electric’s high-reliability and high-performance power equipment such as glass insulators and high-voltage bushings conforms to the urgent needs for grid upgrades and stable power supply in the Middle East and other regions. Khalifa University can utilize its influence in the Gulf and surrounding areas to help Nanjing Electric connect with local government agencies, large energy enterprises, and project resources, providing strong support for the company to better understand target market demands and strategically position itself. Discussions also explored opportunities for international standardization of Nanjing Electric’s product technologies and potential collaborations in aerogel technologies through the university platform.

    According to Chairman Hu Dezhao, Nanjing’s geographic centrality in the Yangtze River Delta, robust transportation infrastructure, and concentration of universities and talent create a solid foundation for deepening cooperation with top international institutions like Khalifa University. This partnership represents a critical strategic path to accelerating internationalization and enhancing global competitiveness.
