Shen Qirong Invited to Deliver Special Lecture at Nanjing Tech

To deepen university-enterprise collaboration and advance industry-academia integration, Shen Qirong—Deputy General Manager of BPG, concurrently serving as General Manager and Chief Engineer of Nanjing Electric Technology Group—was invited to Nanjing Tech University (Nanjing Tech) on June 17. He delivered an engaging lecture titled "Case Studies in Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Undergraduates" as part of the university’s interdisciplinary innovation curriculum for students from the School of Electrical Engineering and Control Science.

As an industrial pioneer honored among China’s Top Ten Outstanding Industrial Figures and National Outstanding Entrepreneur in Machinery Industry, and currently serving as an Industrial Professor at Nanjing Tech, Shen drew on his 30+ years of industry expertise to elucidate the evolution of Nanjing Electric’s national industrial legacy, emerging trends in energy sector, and breakthrough technology innovation case studies. His insights illuminated the essence of innovative spirit, holistic strategic vision, and entrepreneurial mindset, while mapping actionable pathways for innovation-empowered career development—equipping students to become next-generation interdisciplinary talents.

During the core session, Shen dissected three landmark technological innovation cases:
1958: Independent R&D of glass insulators (exemplifying state-strategy-driven innovation); localized production of bushings for the Three Gorges Project (showcasing market-oriented innovation); and industrialization of aerogel materials (demonstrating industry-academia-research collaborative innovation). These multidimensional case studies revealed diverse pathways for technological advancement, offering students invaluable frameworks for innovative thinking. Shen urged students to align personal growth with national development, citing Japanese entrepreneur Kazuo Inamori’s "Success Formula" to emphasize that "right mindset outweighs mere capability."
